Englishmen have a long naval history but when we speak about their captains, there are not many with the prefix "first" in so many achievements. William Adams was born in Kent in the mid 16th century and we presume he could have never known how big influence he'll have on the two different nations and in the naval field.
Captain Adams was the first Englishman to travel to Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Not only that, he became one of the first known western samurais while being a trusted advisor of Shogun Tokugawa. Today we have a town and a village named by William Adams. Festival is organized in his honor every year in his hometown but he lies forever in Hirado, Japan.
